Some common traffic offences we can assist you with include:

- Disqualified driving
And more.
What are the Penalties?
Depending on the severity of your offence, the penalties can range from a fine to licence disqualification and even imprisonment. No matter how serious the offence was, having the support of a legal professional can ensure your penalty is minimised as much as possible.
Any of the penalties can have a significant impact on your family and your ability to work. If you want to talk to a Brisbane traffic lawyer about your charge, call us on

When to Contact a Lawyer?
You should contact a lawyer for legal advice or representation when you:
- Have been charged with a serious traffic offence
- Disagree with an infringement notice & want to elect court
- Received a fine but you were not the driver
- Want to dispute a speeding fine
- Want to apply for a hardship order because your licence has been disqualified
The team at Brisbane City Criminal Law will take the time to assess your case and circumstance, offering you tailored advice that is in your best interests. Most traffic offences will be dealt with in the Magistrate’s Court, where our team will be able to provide representation if you wish.
If you choose to represent yourself at court, it is highly recommended for you to speak to a legal professional prior to your hearing. This ensures you are fully aware of the facts of your case, which can provide you with the best chance at success.
Disputing a Fine
If you believe you were incorrectly issued a fine by a police officer, transport inspector or traffic camera, you have the right to dispute it in court. You must dispute a fine within 28 days of the date of the infringement notice. If you intend to dispute it, do not pay the fine.
The team from Brisbane City Criminal Lawyers can help you submit an Election for Court. From there, you will be given a court date where you will get to dispute the fine in front of a magistrate. Our lawyers can help plan out what you are going to say and make copies of evidence or other important documents.
Applying for a Work Licence
In Queensland, you may be able to still drive a vehicle for work, even though your normal licence has been cancelled due to a traffic offence infringement. You could be eligible for a work licence if:
- You have been charged with drink driving & failed to provide a breath test
- You held an open Queensland driver’s licence
- You require your driver’s licence for work
- You will lose your job without your licence or be in extreme hardship
- You were not charged with a previous traffic offence in the last 5 years
- You are going to plead guilty to the charge & will lose your licence as a result
You must also demonstrate to the Court that you are a ‘fit and proper’ person. Brisbane City Criminal Lawyers can help you apply for a work licence to the Court.
